How Commercial Workspaces are Actively Evolving to Support Hybrid Work Environments
Office spaces are constantly evolving to adapt to current modern-day trends. Currently, corporate work teams are adapting at a great rate to distribute solutions as businesses implement hybrid and work from home policies. Over the past few years, there have been new strategies introduced to establish a “new normal” in office spaces using Flexibility.
What is Flexibility: Flexibility, Flex, or “hybrid” work schedules have become very popular over the past few years following its widespread introduction during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Flexibility has continued to be used by many workspaces due to positive feedback from employees. Hybrid work is preferred by many employees, and it is coordinated by flexible schedules to determine who will be in the workplace and who will be working remotely at that time.
Is it Preferred? Hybrid is possible and mainly preferred by office workers. Many organizations are starting with a guided approach to ease employees into making flexibility the norm. The two main criteria most commonly used to determine if an employee is eligible for a hybrid work schedule are job function and manager discretion. Blended guided flexibility is used by most offices and is preferred by most employees.
What is the new purpose of the office? With many employees working remotely, office space is now able to be reimagined to be more versatile and useful. Office environments are being repositioned for better access to new tools and workspaces.. The highest amount of change has been made to open collaboration spaces and amenity spaces. These are the spaces that support employee collaboration and are required at office buildings when hybrid working is offered. Amenity spaces include in-office coffee bars and workout facilities.
Hybrid working environments are still relatively new and are still developing, but are here to stay permanently. There will always be new developments within the hybrid work world, and it will be ever changing. Commercial workspaces will never be the same after switching to hybrid, but will continue to evolve in a positive manner to the benefit of all employees.
